New Delhi: Markets ended within the adverse zone on Monday led by poor world cues.
Sensex dropped 209.75 factors or 0.60 p.c to finish at 34,961.52 whereas the Nifty fell 70.60 factors or 0.68 p.c to 10,312.40.
Major losers had been Axis Bank, Tech Mahindra, State Bank of India, LT, IndusInd Bank, Infosys, NTPC, ONGC, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance, HCL Tech and HDFC, dropping upto 4.78 p.c. On the opposite hand, the highest gainers on the Sensex had been HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel, M&M, ITC, Sun Pharma, Nestle and Asian Paints, rising upto 1.97 p.c.
The rupee in the meantime settled 7 paise greater at 75.58 (provisional) towards US greenback.
Foreign institutional traders had been web sellers on Friday, offloading equities price Rs 753.18 crore, provisional change information confirmed.
